About
Our love affair with letterpress began in 2005 and the passion keeps growing. From our humble, home-based beginnings to the commercial letterpress printer we are today, we continue to adapt to kindle the fire with our diverse group of clients.
The Founders
Jim and Valerie are both designers with high profile careers that have taken them around the world. They met and fell in love around the holidays, 2002. As they could not deny their passion for one another, neither could they deny their true spiritual calling - stationery design and letterpress printing. After designing their own wedding invitations, they were pushed by industry heavyweights to bestow their talents upon the masses.
Our Influences
1980's fashion trends, the music of Neil Diamond, Moroccan tapestries, the bold look of Kohler and all things Disney.
Our Presses
Even our presses have a storied past. They were found in the barn of a shallot farm in the south of France. Procured by a Heidelberg rescue organization, the presses were painstakingly restored by a retired Heidelberg plant manager with only his bare hands, a brillo pad and an allen wrench. Each press is now a seamless extension of Jim.
Our Shop
Set in the serene grasslands of the Midwest, we are steps away from a babbling brook that we can often be found strolling past, seeking inspiration from all that nature has to offer. Our 4,000 square foot modern facility boasts cathedral-height ceilings and a beautiful mezzanine that overlooks the press area. Let's not forget our pasture out back, suitable for Spark's grazing buffalo.
